NATIONAL
PHILANTHROPY
As sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon, each and every one of us pledge to
uphold our goals of Academic Excellence, Unity Amongst Women, and Community
Service. Over the past twenty five years, we have dedicated countless
hours of service and generous amounts of money to various charities
and research programs. Our mission has always been to help as many organizations
as possible, but we also realize the need to focus our efforts in order
to make a stronger impact on the community at large.
Each National Governing Council executive board selects a national philanthropy
as the beneficiary for its two year term. Through this process, we are
able to dedicate ourselves as a national organization to aiding a single
charity organization for 2 years at a time, and continue to assist many
more organizations in the future.
Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority’s National Philanthropy for 2005-2007
will be the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. The National Governing
Council is in the process of creating programs and methods of service
to the organization. To find out more about the Ovarian Cancer National
Alliance and how you can help, please visit their website or contact
Christine Quiray at President@MuSigmaUpsilon.org
The Celtic Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon is selling Teal Ribbons to fundraise
for our National Philanthropy, Ovarian Cancer Research and Relay for
Life.

The District VII (Florida) Chapters participated in the 2006 Relay for
Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society on April 21-22, 2006.
Sisters from Vathara (Johnson & Wales University) and Yazi (Florida
Memorial University) accepted monetary donations and took part in this
great program from 6:00 PM on Friday to 9:00 AM on Saturday, 15 hours,
as part of their fight against cancer. These sisters helped raised over
$17,000! The certificate for Luminaria Chair went to Maria Sanchez from
the Vathara Chapter. The certificate for outstanding teams went to both
the Vathara and Yazi Chapters.
